Excellent, how do I get a3 units?
I need the window close because my partner does not like the window open when she uses the computer cause she always has a lot of windows open (XP not 7). So at the moment I have a system tray ustilising one core. Its a dual core.

you have to run the smp2 client to get a3 units. and you have to have a passkey and 10 completed units with the passkey to get a bonus (and you have to complete 80% of your units also i think)

It's their job, we just have to deal with it. A few months back, a TSA agent groped my junk. I joked with him, "Linger any longer and you'll have to buy me dinner.";) He didn't even crack a smile.

They killed Works for Office Starter precisely for this reason. You get basic, ad-supported, functionality with the PC but are actively encouraged to "activate" to a real version of Office. This incentive wasn't there with Works as a separate suite.
EDIT: Apple may be king of the upsell on the hardware front, but Micorosoft is great at in in software.

I'm sure I'll get snarkey comments, but here goes: If I can't check my email on it, I'm not interested.
I've got a couple iPods and a shuffle. They play music, and that's great, but I want something that gets MY information to me. When that happens, they've got me sold.
That's really funny.. I was just wishing my iPod (3G) could sync my email from outlook for reading on-the-go.

Apple is doing what they need to do to defend themselves against the smear job put out by the haters in the media and tech sites aligned against them.

On a more serious note, not really. I was trying to think of something other than web browsing. I have a HTPC that I cobbled together that takes care of that.
It's basically the ultimate "access" machine. Just yesterday I used my phone as a dictionary, store, terminal to enterprise software, link to external contact database. (also made some phone calls) iPad would be similar. Lookup, lookup, lookup. Web browsing is covered under that, too.
One thing the iPad brings that any phone cannot is a level of professionalism. In the companies I deal with, using your phone during a meeting looks questionable, like you're fooling around. Using a tablet or laptop to do the exact same lookup of whatever would be ok. It's a little silly, but that's the vibe I get currently.
This is not to say everyone has use for it. I'm happy with the phone, I'm not in that many meetings.

My girlfriend is Chinese and she just doesn't understand our obsession with guns (understandably so). I don't either!
What are people so afraid of that they need guns to protect themselves from?
You must not read the news much. Or check out the robbery, rape, and murder statistics for your town. But I'll bet you're a nice friendly guy, and you live in the nice part of town, so it couldn't possibly happen to you, am I right? :rolleyes:

Are you also confused about our obsessions with free speech? freedom of religion? or freedom of the press perhaps? Because those are protected in the Bill of Rights as well. Guns however, are unique in that they are the only material object, the only physical thing, that the Bill of Rights expressly protects ownership of. So we don't take to kindly to confused legislators who would try and take them away, or place unusual restrictions on that right.

But I'd like to single out the iPhone, the tablet, and the Powerbook G5, as we've looked at these and I can honestly tell you that, right now, we see no point in making them. Maybe things will change next year, but as of now, I'd like you to know that our engineers are working on much more interesting, exciting, original hardware." then people are going to start to take it seriously.
Especially if he also comes up with things like "Oh, and while obviously we're going to do what we can to keep our hardware up to date, I can assure you we're not planning the rumoured 64 bit upgrades for the MacBook Pro in the next quarter."
As time goes by, people will recognize that he's not lying. And that'll make it much harder to make stuff up in order to sell page hits.
Of course, I'm fairly convinced the "iPhone" nonsense is probably partly being exploited by Apple at the moment. I think the humble DVD-9 is going to be the 'top dog' for movies for quite a while yet. HD-DVD and Blu-Ray, plus HD televisions with 780/1080i/p etc resolutions are difficult for the average consumer to understand, never mind get excited about enough to pay out thousands of pounds/dollars for - unless they're cimema-philes or geeks. (No offence meant.)
These massive storage mediums are only useful for computer users for the foreseeable future, where photo & music collections can be backed up to fewer discs.

Yup. Then it was MP3 filesharing and the attempts by Apple and others to start legal download services; now it's bittorrent on the one hand and the ITunes Movie Store, Amazon's Unbox, etc on the other. People seem to be more interested in convenience than the highest possible quality.
